Flick

Flick” aka Claudio Hugo Blanco Suarez is the Lazaro Lizard that spent his life playing the beautiful game – soccer aka ‘futbal’.  Over the years Flick was instrumental in helping Mexico  make it to the world cup, first in 1970 and then in 1986.  Flick is known for flicking his fingers towards whichever corner of the goal he believed he would score in.  Unfortunately in 86 his “flick” was not sufficient as Mexico lost to Germany in a shoot out in the World cup quarter finals.  Under his leadership though the Mexican team went on to qualify for every world cup since 1994.  His career culminated in 1999 when Mexico won the FIFA Confederation Cup.  Flick then retired and headed to the beach town of Bucerias.  Up until his retirement in 1999 Mexico was always considered to be better than the US.  Since 2000 the USA has bettered Mexico.  Because of Flick’s penchant for flicking his fingers (sometimes even picking his nose and flicking it towards opposition goalers), or maybe because of his friendship to some Canadian crokinole players from Ontario, Flick travelled to unofficially represent Mexico in the World Crokinole Championships which have been held in Tavistock Ontario since 1999.  Flick believes he was instrumental in helping to put Crokinole on the map, so to speak, even though he was not able to get the game firmly established in Mexico.  Flick is best knows for his famous phrase, “You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you cannot pick your friend’s nose!”  You will find Flick frequenting the local beach bars, or standing on the beach, flicking a nugget he has mined to see how far it will go.
